Access to PTTimesheet is through a secure connection, which requires a digital certificate to be installed in your browser. A digital certificate is required to encrypt all data to and from your browser. All browsers come pre-loaded with digital certificates from the major Certificate Authorities in the world. If your browser is confronted with a digital certificate not issued by one of them, it will ask you whether you want to accept it or not. The PTTimesheet digital certificate is every bit as secure but your browser doesn't know anything about it.
The digital certificate is very easy to install. The instructions below are for installing the PTTimesheet digital certificate on Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) v7, earlier version of IE, and Mozilla's Firefox v1.5. Please follow the instructions for your browser.
For Internet Explorer v7:
1 - When you first arrive at your company's PTTimesheet web page, you will receive a Certificate Error page recommending that you not proceed. It looks scary but it is simply saying that the PTTimesheet digital certificate that it was just handed along with the web page is not in its list of installed certificates. Once you install the PTTimesheet digital certificate, your browser will be happy.
2 - Click the link "Continue to this website...".
3 - When your company's PTTimesheet login page displays, you'll see a red "Certificate Error" field on the address bar. Click on it and select "View Certificates".
4 - You will see the certificate display, click the "Install Certificate..." button and follow the Certificate Import Wizard. The default selections work best for most people.
5 - After the digital certificate is installed and if the digital certificate window is still open, click the "OK" button to close it.
6 - Close your browser and then restart it. When you go to your company's PTTimesheet login page again, you will see a 'locked' symbol where the "Certificate Error" was before.
For Internet Explorer earlier than v7:
1 - When you first arrive at your company's PTTimesheet web page, you will receive a Security Alert dialog box (show below) asking whether you want to accept the PTTimesheet digital certificate or not.
|
2 - Click the "View Certificates" button.
3 - You will see the certificate display, click the "Install Certificate..." button and follow the Certificate Import Wizard. The default selections work best for most people.
4 - After the digital certificate is installed and if the digital certificate window is still open, click the "OK" button to close it.
5 - When you go to your company's PTTimesheet web page again, you will see a 'locked' symbol at the bottom of the window.
For Firefox v1.5:
1 - When you first arrive at your company's PTTimesheet web pages, you will receive an error dialog box similar to the following. In Firefox, you can install digital certificats with just a couple mouse clicks.
|
2 - Click the radio button "Accept this certificate permanently" and then click the "OK" button. That's it!
